The winter months of lounging around on the couch are fast approaching. Those freezing cold days when it just hurts to pick your head up are a recipe for staying inside and kicking off any movie or TV show marathons. As a result, the heating bill is going to hit you like an anvil when it comes time to pay up.
There are a few things you may want to consider this winter when it comes to not only staying warm, but also saving some money along the way. For starters, establish a program on your thermostat around the hours you know you will or will not be home. If, for example, you crank the heat up to 78 when you’re home, consider keeping it down to 70 when you’re away.
Similarly, dropping the temperature down to a lower setting while sleeping under heavy blankets is another way to simultaneously save money and stay warm at the same time. You can set the higher temperature to sync up with around the time you would wake up, that way the cold doesn’t make you want to stay under the blankets and hit the snooze button (this may be your biggest challenge).
