New Alleged Trend I’m Not Seeing: Interior Accent Doors

I’m the kind of person who likes to keep tabs on housing trends of any kind. Whether it’s a market trend (houses on the market, average list price), or a design trend (accent walls, barn doors), I like to know what the latest craze is when it comes to the industry.

The newest one that I’ve been hearing about, but admittedly not seeing (yet?), is the idea behind interior accent doors. A friend of mine recently sent me a link to a September Real Simple article in which the writer posits that accent walls are out, and accent doors are in.

Truthfully, of all the houses I’ve previewed, taken clients to, or listed, I’ve yet to see a single one that leans on this trend. Not one.

Sure, I see the freshly painted front door (reds, deep navy blues are popular), and the HGTV barn door trend, along with that grey/white/black tile look to homes, but I can’t say I’ve seen a single interior accent door. Hey, I even wrote a bit about peel-and-stick wallpaper back in September and how it’s still one of the biggest trends I’m seeing in homes.

Am I missing something?
