What do you look for in a real estate agent?

A friend of mine asked me the other day, “What do you think is the one major thing people look for in a real estate agent?”

I found it difficult to narrow down to just one answer, so here’s a short list of some qualities I identified:

  • A friendly, caring attitude
  • Strong communication skills
  • Sales, marketing, and negotiation skills
  • An organized approach to taking care of all the details
  • A network of professionals (Lawyers, contractors, movers, etc.)

The list goes on, but if forced to choose just one I would say this: Listening.

A good real estate agent listens to the client’s interests, preferences, concerns, and desires, so that the entire buying or selling experience is quick, rewarding, and trouble-free.
