Lock Down Your New Home the Day You Move In

It’s so easy to get caught up in all the day-to-day items of moving into a home, that sometimes you look past the most important one(s) on move-in day.

In the week leading up to your move-in day, perhaps even sooner just to be safe, you may want to consider calling a locksmith to schedule an appointment that coincides with your move.

If you don’t have a preference for your locks, and before you decide to go out and buy all new ones, ask your locksmith if the units already installed are capable of being rekeyed instead.

And while you’re at it, consider the same for your garage. If there is a keypad entry already in place, follow the reset instructions for the unit and set up your new code.

Keep in mind, a number of these use batteries, so you might as well consider putting in a fresh set the day you move in.
