Today marks the first full week without classes for local schools.
Maybe I’m showing my age when I say, “Back in our day, we played in the streets,” but every kid in my neighborhood on a skateboard or bike reminds me that this didn’t magically end a few decades ago.
This is a friendly reminder to keep your eyes peeled and honor local speed limit signs while driving this summer, especially as you cut through local side streets or areas surrounding parks.
And of course, if you see a ball or toy rolling into the street, stop immediately and wait before slowly proceeding in the event a child is running out after it.
